Dashboards#
A dashboard is a named page of charts. Dashboards and their charts are kept in core, per organisation. The charts are drawn from the data Hyvop has collected.
Dashboard > View All (/dashboards). Open to every signed-in role. Creating, renaming and deleting a dashboard is for
the roles that operate (administrator and user); a viewer reads.
The list#
Each dashboard is a square card with its name, the date it was last updated, and a faded preview of its first chart. A click opens it. The first card, New dashboard, asks for a name and, optionally, parameters (see below), then creates the dashboard and opens it.
On a card, three buttons appear when the pointer is over it. The pin pins the dashboard to the sidebar or unpins it. The pencil renames it. The bin deletes it after a confirmation that says it cannot be undone.
Every organisation is given nine pre-built dashboards; their charts fill in as data is collected.
Pinning to the sidebar#
A pinned dashboard gets its own entry under Dashboard in the sidebar. Add to sidebar in that group opens a list of all dashboards where each can be pinned or unpinned. Pins are kept in this browser only, not in core: another browser or another person sees their own.
One dashboard#
The title is a dashboard name you can click to rename; Enter or leaving the field saves, Escape cancels. Under it is the number of charts.
Charts are shown in a grid of twelve columns. Each tile has a title and, on hover:
- a grip at the left, to drag the tile to another place;
- a pencil, to rename the chart;
- a sliders button, to set parameters for this chart only;
- a cross, to remove the chart from the dashboard. The chart definition is kept and can be pinned again later.
A tile can be resized by dragging its bottom right corner. Order and size are kept in this browser only, per dashboard. On a narrow screen the tiles are one column wide. A chart that cannot be drawn shows the reason in its place; a chart with no data yet says so.
Parameters#
A parameter is a name and a value, for example p_provider and aws. A chart whose query has a placeholder of that
name, written {p_provider:String}, uses the value. Defaults are set for the whole dashboard (the Parameters button)
and, per chart, with the sliders button on a tile. The chart's value wins over the dashboard's.
When a dashboard has parameters, a bar above the charts shows each one. Change a value and press Apply (or Enter) to redraw the charts with it; Reset goes back to the defaults. Applied values are not saved. Edit defaults saves new defaults in core.
Add chart with AI#
Add chart with AI needs a model; see ai.md. Describe the chart in a sentence, optionally give a title, and press Add to dashboard. Hyvop then checks that the chart can be drawn and adds it to the dashboard. If the chart has no data yet it is added anyway and the message says so. If no chart comes back, or the budget is reached or no model is set, the reason is shown and nothing is added.
